ropes course owner/operator, facilitator, course curriculum developer, student, recreational professional
Describe your involvement or interest in adventure-based experiential learning.
I am currently the coordinator for the USU Ropes Course in Logan Ut. I have been facilitating for the last 3 years here and have just taken over the position of manager/coordinator. I have developed some of the curriculum that we are currently using here and are looking for additionally resources to add. I also have served with the local Search and Rescue group here in Cache Valley for the past 10 years, of which 9 of them I have been the High Angle Instructor. I am also finishing up a masters degree in Instructional Technology here at Utah State University.
What are your goals, and how can The Challenge community help you achieve them?
Some of my goals for the USU Ropes Course are to expand the course itself with an additional tower, newer low elements and some out buildings to house the equipment and a small office on site. I would also like to place a high course inside one of the building up on campus to be able to keep the course open during the winter and the inclement weather times. I am also working on taking the course off-site to schools and business that would otherwise not think of using the ropes course for trainings. I am looking to put together two trucks that I would be able to equip to be able to transport most of the lower and portable equipment to use in this endeavor. If you have any suggestions or help in any of these areas the knowledge and help would be put to great use.
