Thanks Linda. Not sure if you remember me, but you helped me deliver a catapult building program for a corporate group in Denver last year! Hope all is well.

Two of my favorites to be sure - and quick reads for both. I know Speed of Trust also comes in an audio version if you are in the car a lot. You can get them lots of places, and at the risk of inappropriate marketing, you can find them both at www.training-wheels.com.

A couple of books out there that demonstrate the power of teams that are working well together are the Five Dysfunctions of a Team by Patrick Lencioni and the Speed of Trust by Steven M.R. Covey. Both of these authors bring it down to the bottom line. Covey does a great job with demonstrating how much a lack of trust costs a company or organization and how much faster things get done when there is trust. This can give you some specifics to focus you marketing on.

Joe - I am not sure if there is one piece of indisputable evidence that what we do is valuable (although obviously it is). There is plenty of evidence out there (just Google) on the benefits of experiential learning, and the power of effective team-working. However, having worked for a corporate for 25 years, I think the primary issue they need to focus on is what is their overall strategy for staff development. Too many corporates view team-building as an annual day-out on a teams course, as opposed to an ongoing commitment to work with their staff throughout the year. Therefore, perhaps the evidence you are looking for are case studies of the successful staff development policies at well-regarded companies. It is almost certain that experiential learning will be part of their policy. Also, you can use some examples from clients you have worked with, particularly where they have taken something they learned from their experience and actively put it into practice at work.

Thanks Brian. Do you know of any evidence based research on corporate experiential learning that supports the belief that it has lasting effect and provides a valuable return on investment? Everyone I seem to talk to lately wnats to see evidence that we can positively affect their bottom line.

Joe, Lately, we have been focusing our marketing efforts on showing the necessity of establishing and/or maintaining a cohesive, directed and committed team during these economic times and showing that experiential learning has a quicker and more lasting effect than traditional "lecture-based" training. I know it sounds simplistic, but our clients have responded very favorably.

Any ideas how to increase sales of corporate programs in this current economy? Is anyone looking for an experienced corporate facilitator?

Here are some photos of a group of Lawyers and summer interns involved in an organization I facilitate for called - The Backhoe Challenge - there are no photos of the Heavey Machines, although we use them and they are awesome!

My name is Dylan Ardan and I am a faciliator in Vietnam. I recently created a NON-Activity with a silent objective and silent rules. Totally participant driven and the debrief is so funny. I hope to share my new activities with others, collaborate with other facilitators in South East Asia and invite facilitators to come to Vietnam. Please let me know if you are in the area.
